Tom Hanks's drama Captain Phillips is first premiere at London Film Festival launch

London Film Festival this year is Tom Hanks double bill with 232 other features in the middle.

The 12-day film exhibition opens Wednesday with "Captain Phillips," and an exciting draw-of-life starring Hanks as a cargo ship captain held captive by Somali pirates.


In the festival closer, "Saving Mr. Banks," Hanks plays real figure is very different - Walt Disney, sparring with British writer PL Travers for the film adaptation of her children in a classic "Mary Poppins." The film had its world premiere in London on the 20th October.

Hanks was on the show to talk about his latest film, "Captain Phillips," but right off the bat the actor began the conversation with an unexpected announcement.
Other stars attending the 57th London Film Festival include Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes and Daniel Radcliffe.
